Damien Westrelin
DAMIEN WESTRELIN
Damien is a french pianist and composer born in 1987 in the suburb of Paris. He started learning piano at the age of eight. Ten years later, his fascination for improvisation led him to jazz. In 2006, Damien moved to Paris to improve his classical music knowledge under the guidance of Pascal Gallet, Hugues Leclère and Elena Rozanova. In 2010, He entered the Bruxelles Royal Conservatory where he studied with Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden, Gabriel Teclu and Johan Schmidt.
After completing his classical studies, Damien entered the Eric Legnini’s piano jazz class of the conservatory. For Damien, classical music and jazz have come to be his ying and yang. It’s why nowadays one can hear him in both repertoires. Moreover, Damien is also very involved in pedagogy. After more than ten years of experience, teaching is still a big part of his activity.
